OxfordPV
Oxford Photovoltaics Limited (Oxford PV) was founded in 2010 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford to commercialise a new technology for thin-film solar cells. Based at Begbroke Science Park, Oxford PV’s primary objective is to deliver a vastly scalable process and materials technology to boost the performance of silicon and CIGS solar cells and provide power generating glazing for the Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) market.
Co-Founder, Prof Henry Snaith, was amongst the first in the world to recognise the potential of a chemical structure called perovskite to act as a low-cost, highly efficient solar cell absorber material to convert sunlight into electricity.
Oxford PV has exclusively licensed the rapidly growing portfolio of fundamental intellectual property developed by Professor Henry Snaith and his academic team of 17 scientists. Oxford PV is the first mover, leading the commercialisation of perovskite technology.
